It is a pity that this "adapting" resulted in changing basic beliefs of Christian faith and eventually Christianity became apostate. For example Christmas was never a Christian holiday but it was adapted because of the Romans, so that they can easily embrace "Christianity". But the very moment Christianity embraced the so called Birth of The Christ as a Holiday - they became no more Christians but pagans rather.
