plastic or wood.
YES!!!
they will need some hay, water bottle, food bowl, hutch , pellets
Guinea pigs need 8 square feet of living space inside the hutch. For 2, a minimum of 10 square feet is needed. The height needs to be a minimum of 12 inches. It is not safe to keep guinea pigs outside in their hutches due to weather changes, so build it to be accommodated inside the house.
Downdraft ventilation would be the smart option for an indoor grill.
Of course this depends on the size of the floors but I'd say that there should be AT LEAST TWO FLOORS. This is only if the floors are at least 4ft wide, if they are any less wide then you will need more floors. 80% of the hutches and cages you will see for guinea pigs are FAR too small and one floored enclosure is too small unless it is a large C&C cage. I have two guinea pigs who live together in a hutch which has two floors, which are about 4ft x 2ft. I don't think that a hutch much smaller than this is acceptable. This hutch has worked well for me and is quite cheap as hutches go. You may wish to follow up the attached link for more information. I hope this helps, I'm happy to answer any guinea pig related questions!
Yes. If you own an indoor guinea pig you need to keep it indoors. It can play out side (in a run) but cannot sleep out side. They need to be kept in a room with another guinea pig or in a bedroom were they won't get lonley. Indoor guinea pigs are clean animals still they need their cages being cleaned out once in a while. I would definitely go for a hutch with at least a plastic bottom to it. Guinea pig wee tends to seep into everthing and is very potent. From my experience there is no getting that smell out of wood! the wipe clean option is a must. remember to have wooden chew toys or sticks around their cage in order to let them gnaw to keep their teeth from over growing. in summary..plastic is a big yes!
yes, guinea pigs dont need to have others of its kind with them to be happy but you should play with them at least an hour a day.
well, for my guinea pigs i use 'supa guinea' feed (but any good guinea pig food will do) water, in a special bottle which you can get from any pet stores for example pets at home (you can fine guinea pig starter packs there) and you can get vitamin c (which is vital as they cannot produce vitamin c themselves) of course, a cage and bedding, or if they are outside, a hutch with protection from the sun, fresh hay and 1 major rule- NO BALLS! it damages their spines! hope i helped, tuxedo-kitten xxx
Here are the main things your guinea pig will need to stay fit, healthy and happy:Clean water(change every couple of days)Special guinea pig food (Gerty Guinea Pig is a good brand)Fresh Timothy hay (buy in a bag from your local pet store)Clean Hutch (clean once or twice week depending on how dirty it gets)At least an hour a day in a Large Outdoor/Indoor Run (a rabbit one is good for more than 2 guinea pigs)Fresh Food (Cucumber, Lettuce, Celery etc)And a lot of love and cuddling! If your guinea pig looks unwell or severely over or underweight you should seek advice from your vet as this may lead to a life threatening illness.Hope this helps!
Guinea pigs love to play so have some toys in there even if its just an empty toilet paper roll also pet stores sell igloos that the guinea pigs can sleep in and stuff even though you don't see them as often if you didn't get an igloo trust me they love the igloos and when their in there it makes them feel safe also a water bottle.
Guinea pigs should not have a wheel in there cage because it isn't good for there backs NEVER put a guinea pig in an exercise wheel! Guinea pigs are not designed to be able to bend backwards and forcing their spines into this position could break the spine and paralyse the guinea pig. Your pig should be kept in a hutch where it has enough room to run and exercise without the need for a wheel.
