Farming was a very popular job, as was trapping animals. Whaling was invented in colonial times to get raw materials to make oil for lamps. Artisans and craftsmen made farm tools and clothing. Ship building was something to do as well because of all of the trade between Europe and the colonies. It would only make sense that settlements would have barbers, bartenders, tailors, coopers (barrel makers), etc...
In summary, most people did something to help the community survive.
Baker, wigmaker,farmer,milliner,trader,lumbermen,sailor, etc..
Jobs were a blacksmith, a locksmith and they could have also been a farrier or a doctor.

There were few jobs available to women who lived during the 1750s. These included running a shop and teaching children.
The diet in the 1750s was mainly meat, bread and corn. The meat was mainly wild meat which was hunted and fish.
