I am trying to change the oil transmission on my ford ranger 1998 but I do not know what kind of oil it needs. it's a 4 cylender
The 1998 Ford Ranger Owner Guide shows ( 5W-30 ) for the 2.5 / 3.0 and 4.0 engines
you will have to raise the motor up by taking the motor loose at the mounts just enough to get the oil pan off.
According to the 1998 Ford Ranger owners manual : (made in the U.S.A.) WITH FILTER CHANGE : the 2.5 L engine takes 4.3 liters of motor oil the 3.0 L engine takes 4.3 liters of motor oil the 4.0 L engine takes 4.7 liters of motor oil
Consult the owners manual for that info.

Can the oil pump be replaced on 1994 Ford Ranger 4.0 without pulling motor?
