you really wouldn't hear any noise. a head gaskets main function is to keep engine coolant out of the piston cylinders, if the gasket is damaged and coolant enters the cylinder there will be a large decrease of power. a few ways to check it at home would be to inspect your oil. if the oil has a tan collor(like cofee with alot of cream) to it then it may have water in it. also if there is white smoke coming out of the tail pipe that's also a good indicator that water is being burned in the cylinders. is the radiator low on water? does the engine have a hard time starting up? as far as noise, is will be to hard to tell.
could be a possible blown head gasket

If this is a nice car then spend the money and have the blown head gasket repaired before you try to sell it. With a blown head gasket it is only worth what someone will pay. Would you buy a car with a blown head gasket? I sure would not, as there is no way of knowing how much damage has been done. I would not touch this car as it stands now and neither will most people. It is worth very little with the gasket blown.
This would depend on the year and make of the truck. In general, an older truck would sell for 1500 dollars or so with a blown head gasket.
Yes it would.
