It will vary car to car. The best is to check the owners manual, It will usually give a recommended oil for a given heat range.

Generally that will remain the best oil for the engine over its lifespan. If the engine is getting worn out (and for most modern engines 100K is nowhere near that point) going up a weight or two can *possibly* help extend the life of a worn engine. However it will reduce efficiency (resulting in less power & mpg).
