Live hippos are not made from plastic, but from meat and bone. If someone were to make a man-made hippo for a miniature Golf course or something similar, they'd make it from fiberglass. In a fiberglass hippo, you'd use general-purpose polyester resin and chopped-strand fiberglass sprayed into several molds, then you'd glue or bolt the parts together after they cured.
