There an ignition light spark plug wire and you can find them for sale from J&P Cycles online or call them 1-800. also you can find them from many harley Davidson dealer ships
Use an ohmeter to test tesistance where the plug wires connect to the coil-it should read 12,000. now for the the primaray side where the signal wires connect to the coil should be 2-3 ohms.
Check the lite bulb it is OK check if there is power at the lite when you press peddle/lever.If no power check brake switches and fuses as well as connections on wires.
Look in a book called "Tech-Tips" put out by Easyrider Magazine, there is a simple wiring diagram that I once used on my 72 XLCH it consist of about 6 wires.
You could have a sticking solenoid on the starter, you could have a defective starter button, or your solenoid wires may be set up in a way that causes the current to ark between points when it's not supposed to.
Trouble code P0305 means:Cylinder 5 misfire detected Try replacing the plug wires and double checking the spark plug gaps
rt side top of trans, between top cover and starter. held in by one 1/4 inch Allen head bolt. careful with wires, they are nestled in there tight. it will come out without taking out starter.
the rear cylinder will fire first.
Their are some screws over there and you unscrew it and take out the wires also.
Voltage regulator a loose connection. Look around the switch. No loose wires or corroded terminals? Get a new regulator and put it on. Really the only way to test it on older bikes.
2.5 to 3 quarts. After draining, put in 2.5 quarts, then crank the starter without the spark plugs wires connected. It will allow it to cycle the oil through the motor. Check the oil level and then add the last .5 quarts IF NEEDED depending on where your oil level is.
most likely you have a broken wire .you need to run the bike and move wires until you hear the bike start to stall .I would remove the seat .and get behind the oil tank that's where my problem was on my 76 super glide .she would stall out in the middle of the parkway it was crazywhen I had enough I and stripped and rewired the whole bike one wire at a time .and on a 76 superglide the headlight held most of the wires.but i found stripped wires touching the oil tank .after that the bike never stalled again.good luck
Yes, you push the plug in the hole in from of engine and there's a plastic clip that has to small sheet metal screws that screw into motor housing.
