No, a Monarchy is not the same as an Autocracy. A Monarchy is a form of government in which their is a head of state that is usually held until death, then is passed to a succesor usually within the bloodline of the previous ruler or appointed before the succesor's death. Examples of a Monarchy are those that are ruled by a Kind or Queen. An Autocracy is a form of government in which one person as absolute control over the region in which he rules. Their are no other individuals who hold any form of power; it is solely the leader of the government who has any form of juristiction over the region. Loose examples of this would be the Roman Empire and Nazi Germany. Even though there are advisers to the ruler, the final say is given to the ruling official.
