he put his own power above the good of his country:)
Antonio López de Santa Anna (1794-1876, often Santa Ana) was a Mexican general and frequent President of Mexico in the mid-19th century. He is remembered for two major conflicts, the Battle of the Alamo (1836) during the Texas Revolution, and as a restored Mexican leader during the Mexican-American War (1847).In addition, Santa Anna had established himself as the dictator of Mexico by 1835. He also became unpopular among many Mexicans when he sold what is known as the Gadsden Purchase in 1853 to the United States. The cost was $10 million. Many Mexicans regarded the deal as yet another example of Santa Anna's profligacy, and this opposition hastened the end of Santa Anna's political career.
Antonio López de Santa Anna died on June 21, 1876 at the age of 82.
Santa Anna lived in a number of places, such as Mexico City, Columbia, and Texas (during the Texas Revolution) However, he spent most of his time on his beloved property, Manga de Clavo.
