Their nests usually have a strong urine/decaying smell. Watch out for them, they'll actually come after you, and if you get bit, even though you go to the doctor and they jab that needle in for the IV and anti-venom, they inbreed so bad that the anti-venom may or may not be real effective.
There are legless lizards called glass snakes that can snap off their tails when preyed upon. A new tail eventually grows, but myths have led some people to believe that the glass snake actually puts itself back together.
