What kind of soap do you use on a hamster?

One of the most common questions I receive is: "Should I bathe my hamster?" The answer is NO.

A hamster should never be washed, since hamsters keep themselves clean. If you bathe a hamster, it would catch a cold and die.

Hamsters produce their own natural oils to maintain the condition of their fur and will spend a long time grooming. So I would not recommend bathing a hamster since it will not enjoy it and bathing may make the hamster's fur look worse. If your hamster smells bad then you should clean the cage more frequently.

Avoid looking at videos of hamsters being washed, since it is only cruel to wash a hamster. Hamsters will not love being bathed and they would die of a cold.

I would avoid bathing a hamster at all. All though many people say they can swim it is not advised to bath them. If you absolutely have to I would to it is a small bowl of warm water and use a tiny bit of baby shampoo. Don't leave them in for very long, and once finished dry them with a towel not a hairdryer. Make sure they are completely dry before returning them to their cage.

don't give it any bath that could kill it and its called animal abuse! And that's just cruel thay clean there selves if you bath it your an animal abuser it could drown or get cold and wet and die! Dont take a chance!!! The soapy stuff could kill it

Water can actually kill a rodent, so I wouldn't recommend bathing your hamster. However, I think they sell a certain type of dust, like chinchilla dust that you could bathe your pet in.

No you are not required to but if you want to i recommend giving it a sand bath

you dont give hamsters bathes but if you mean a hamsters cage a mild dish soap will be fine
