To be honest there are numerous kinds but the most common would probably be a wolf spider or a brown recluse it also has to do with the pattern if it has two rows of eyes then it is most likely a wolf spider
where did you find this spider, i found one like it about to die in the house it wz about the size of a 50 cent if the legs was open
It could be a wolf spider which has bites are are painful but not poisonous. There are many common house spiders that have these markings.
If you are in Australia it sounds like a Mouse spider. I'm in North America and found a similar spider in my basement this morning, but can't seem to find out what it is.

Yikes... stay away. Likely a dirty Widow. A BLACK WIDOW with a lighter colouration. Don't touch it!

If you found a spider that is black, not fuzzy and has a yellow design on its back, his could mean that you found a banana spider. These are common in Oklahoma.
