The Camry Solara is a soft top. Soft tops are generally made of cloth or vinyl.
Solara CONVERTIBLE top price
It would help if you were a little more specific. What year, what model, hard top or convertible? My 2004 (gen II) Solara Convertible SLE weighs 3615 pounds wet. The hardtop is a couple of hundred pounds less. Obviously the Solara is no lightweight. Cheers
The convertible top uses automatic transmission fluid. The convertible top uses automatic transmission fluid.
There are no hard top replacements for the Solara's convertible top (I'm assuming that's what you're asking). If your ragtop is damaged it can be repaired with kits available or probably one of your local upholstery shops. Replacements are available online in the original canvas material for under $700. Your Toyota dealer can give you a price for installation. Cheers
Automatic transmission fluid.
A convertible.
Toyota produced Solara convertibles beginning in 2000. There were two generations of Solara. Generation 1 (and 1.5) was produced from 1998 (first sold as a 1999 model) to 2003. Generation 2 (and 2.5) were produced from 2004 through 2008. The Generation 1 convertible was essentially a couple that the top had been removed from and a droptop installed. Many drivers dubbed it the 'flexible flyer' because the frame twisted and wiggled (and rattled) so badly. The Generation II convertible was designed from a clean sheet of paper to be rigid without a hard top. The windshield frame is thicker than the couple as are the doorsills and other parts. The convertible has a roll-bar hidden in the back seat that makes use of the headrests. If you're looking to buy a convertible, get the Gen II. Cheers
1950 4 door mercury made into a convertible they chopped off the top to make it convertible
Consider this a 'ballpark' figure. I did an online search for "2002 Solara Convertible Top Replacement" and found several resources. One of them, (convertible top guys) wants $649 for their top of the line kit that includes a defrosted glass rear window. There's a less expensive option with a plastic window. Another provider (Auto Tops Direct) is asking $449 with a glass window. I'm guessing there's a substantial quality difference in the material. If you can't do the work yourself it'll probably cost you at least a couple of hours labor whatever that rate is in your area. If I were you I'd also call my local Toyota dealer and ask what they charge for the top and for labor. Also ask who the OEM supplier is for the top and look them up. Cheers
To hand crank the convertible top into place when the motor for the top fails.
The 0-60 time for the Gen II Solara (04 and later) is 7.04 seconds. The 0-60 time for the Volvo is 7.2 seconds. (both figures from the "Top Speed" website.) So, while it's doubtful anyone has ever purchased a Solara thinking it's a race car the Toyota is faster than the Volvo. Cheers
