Toyota produced Solara convertibles beginning in 2000. There were two generations of Solara. Generation 1 (and 1.5) was produced from 1998 (first sold as a 1999 model) to 2003. Generation 2 (and 2.5) were produced from 2004 through 2008.
The Generation 1 convertible was essentially a couple that the top had been removed from and a droptop installed. Many drivers dubbed it the 'flexible flyer' because the frame twisted and wiggled (and rattled) so badly. The Generation II convertible was designed from a clean sheet of paper to be rigid without a hard top. The windshield frame is thicker than the couple as are the doorsills and other parts. The convertible has a roll-bar hidden in the back seat that makes use of the headrests.
If you're looking to buy a convertible, get the Gen II.
Cheers
The 3.0 liter V6 engine in a 2003 Toyota Solara has a timing BELT ( according to the Gates website , they make timing belts etc. )
Toyota does manufacture convertible cars. The Camry Solara & MR2 Spyder models are examples of convertible cars manufactured by Toyota.
The Solara is the two-door coupe version of the Camry, and is also available as a convertible. If it's a 4-door, it would not be a Solara, but rather a Camry. The Solara coupe was discontinued at the end of the 2008 model year and the convertible was only produced in limited numbers after that.
Honda does NOT make convertibles. You can, however, purchase Chevy's or Ford Mustangs, as these cars have the option of having convertibles. It is important that you do research on your cars to understand which brands do and do not make convertibles.
Yes, it would. I have an '01 Solara, and when I took it to the dealership to see why my check engine light was on, after they scanned it, they told me that it was due to a bad egr valve.
There are a plethora of Toyota dealers in the Toronto area, and if one is searching for a used Toyota Solara that may seem an obvious place to start. However, less traditional vending tools such as online car buying sites and online classifieds and even auctions can make narrowing down the search much easier. Of course, locally circulated print classifieds and car guides or physical auto auctions can also be helpful.
We paid cash for a 2001 Toyota Camri (Solara) in 2005. The title still shows a lienholder: Toyota:Motor: Credit Corp. How do we get a clean title?
There were 90,152 hardtops and 16,960 convertibles.
Chrysler? Ford? GM? Toyota? I'd suggest you look at the individual automakers 'specs' pages or online forums to fnd the answers. Each make will be different. There is no Solara minivan. Cheers
From what my 200 Toyota solara is, it's about 1 metre and 37 cms roughly. The battery spec is probably listed in your owner's manual. I checked Autozone, Pep Boys and Sears websites and all show a Type 35 battery for the 2000 Solara, both 4 and 6 cylinder.Beyond the 'type' you'll have some decisions to make regarding cold cranking amps and other figures. If you live someplace where temperatures are extreme, I'd suggest going with the best quality your wallet can handle. If you live in a temperate climate that isn't hard on batteries you can probably get away with a medium quality part.Cheers
The 2001-2003 Toyota Solara has the most common hook-end wiper arms. See sources and related links below for installation videos. Also, purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. Locate and press the tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook of the wiper arm and pull wiper blade out of hook. You may have to rotate and flex the blade to make enough clearance for the hook to pass through.
The 1999 Toyota Solara takes 22" drivers and 21" passenger side wiper blades. See sources and related links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only. Be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.
