If you are:
Vegan: You consume no meat, fish, dairy or eggs, in fact anything that is an animal or has come from an animal you avoid.
Vegetarian: You consume no meat or fish, but can eat both eggs and dairy as they are not a creature they are a produce of the animal.
Pescetarian: This is someone who will not eat meat, but will eat fish, eggs and dairy.
Any kind of vegetarian doesn't consume meat, including fish and other seafood's. One who eats fish, egg, and dairy is a pescetarian. So that means pescetarians aren't a branch of vegetarianism.
An ovo vegetarian is somewhat rare. They do not consume meat or dairy, but do consume eggs. The majority of the veg community are either vegetarian (consumes dairy & eggs) or vegan (no dairy or eggs). If someone is an ovo vegetarian, they probably have a dairy intolerance.
Lacto vegetarian: A lacto vegetarian diet excludes meat, fish, and poultry, eggs and it's products. However, it may contain dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and cheese.Lacto ovo vegetarian: A lacto ovo vegetarian diet excludes meat, fish, and poultry but includes dairy products and eggs. .
Why might a vegetarian diet also be a lower-calorie diet than a diet that includes meat and dairy
Strict or vegan; which excludes all animal products including milk, cheeses, eggs, and other dairy products.Lacto-vegetarian; which excludes meat, poultry, fish, and eggs, but includes dairy products.Lacto-ovo-vegetarian; which excludes meats, poultry, and seafood, but includes eggs and dairy products.
My best advice is to do research before you starting removing meat from your diet. I know several people who accidentally got sick because they tried to live off of potato chips and celery. Research different meal idea, recipes, meat replacements, and benefits of vegetarianism. Next, decide what's in/out. Ovo-vegetarian: eats eggs but meat, fish, dairy, poultry is out Lacto-vegetarian: eats dairy products but meat, fish, eggs, and poultry is out Lacto-ovo-vegetarian: eats eggs and dairy products but no meat, fish, or poultry Pesce-vegetarian: eats fish, eggs, and dairy but not meat or poultry Good luck!
I've been a lacto-vegetarian for several years, so surely I'm qualified to answer this question. Vegetarian food is completely free of all meat, fish, poultry, and other animal products. This includes chicken broth and foods cooked with meat. Ovo-vegetarians allow eggs in their diet but no dairy products, while lacto-vegetarians allow dairy products, but no eggs. Lacto-ovo-vegetarians allow dairy and eggs. Many vegetarians also do not include gelatin in their diets, as it is frequently of animal origin. You do not eat any type of meat. I eat alot of salad
People choose not to be vegetarian for different reasons. However, a vegetarian diet is much more healthy than a diet of meat and dairy.
A vegetarian eats dairy; The only term describing someone who eats no animal based product (meat, dairy, eggs...) is Vegan.
Which foods a vegetarian avoids depends on the type of vegetarian diet. As a rule, vegetarians avoid meat and meat products. However, some will eat fish. Ovo-lacto vegetarians will eat dairy and eggs. Those following a vegan diet will avoid all animal products completely.
Although the term vegetarian usually means a non-meat diet, there are vegetarian eating plans that include eggs. Ovo vegetarians allow themselves to eat eggs as do lacto-ovo vegetarians. Lacto-ovo vegetarians may also eat dairy products.
Someone who eats no meat or fish. Vegetarians eat dairy products and eggs.
It's a vegetarianwho eats both eggs and dairy products but not meat!
