Most molecular compounds are composed of the atoms of two or more nonmetals, ionic compounds on the other hand, are formed from a metal and a non metal.

All of them, with the exception of the "Noble" gases (group VIII in the Periodic Table). Even these have been forced to form compounds under unique laboratory conditions, with the exception of Helium. No stable compound of He is known.

All of them, with the exception of the inert gases. The inert gases have their valence band completely full and cannot normally undergo any chemical reactions.

Molecular compounds (as opposed to ionic compounds) are formed from non metals combining with each other, so the types of atoms would be NON METALS.

What are the two major types of compounds?

There are two types of compounds: molecular and ionic. ill give you an example of each Water-H20 molecular compound Salt-NaCl ionic compoundThere are ionic compounds which is a compound formed by a positive metal ion and a negative nonmetal ion. And there are convalent compounds which is a compound formed in which atoms share electrons.

What compound is involved in many life processes ionic or molecular or both?

Both types of compounds are involved in the many life processes that occur in living cells.

Which type of elements are molecular compounds composed of?

Molecular compounds are composed of all types of elements. I think the answer you're going for is what type of BONDS are molecular compounds composed of. In which case, the answer would be covalant, however this can vary between polar and nonpolar covalant, that's what a molecular compound is made of, otherwise it's an ionic compound.

Do compounds always contain different types of atoms?

Yes, all the compounds contain different types of atoms.

How many different types of atoms are in a molecular compound?

Any compound, whether molecular or ionic, will contain two or more types of atom.

What are example of basic compound?

There are two basic types of compounds. They are distinguished by by the manner in which the atoms bind to one another in the compound. These two types are called "molecular" compounds and "salts" (or equivalently "ionic" compounds): Molecular compounds: These compounds are made up of molecules whose atoms bind to one another through "covalent" bonds. Salts: The atoms in salts are held together with "ionic" bonds. Unlike molecules, salts always form solids in a regular array called a "crystalline solid". A bond is the "glue" that holds atoms together. In compounds this glue can either be covalent or ionic. Covalent bonds: The electrons are shared between atoms. Therefore this sharing of electrons provides the glue. Ionic bonds: Ionic bonds occur due to the mutual attraction between atoms with positive and negative charges i.e., ions. Why do compounds have same emperical and moleculer formula?

Empirical FormulaAll compounds are formed from different atoms of different elements through chemical bonding. Especially in organic chemistry, there are billions of different compounds which has made up from hydrogen and carbon. As an example let us take ethene and propene, which are two alkenes. The prior has 2 carbon atoms and 4 hydrogen atoms, and the latter has 3 carbon atoms and 6 hydrogen atoms. In both of these molecules, the simplest ratio between C:H is 1:2, hence both of these compounds have the empirical formula of CH2.Molecular FormulaThe molecular formula is given by the actual ratio of the atoms which are in the molecule. For example, ethanol and diethyl ether both have the same molecular formula of C2H6O (in the practice we write these with different notations though). Compounds with the same molecular formula are known as isomers. Constitutional isomers, Stereo-isomers and Conformational isomers are three main types of isomers.

What are 2 ways in which compounds form?

There are two types of compounds according to their bonding, ionic and covalent. Compounds can be divided into two with respect to their appearance, molecular compounds and crystalline compounds.
