I usually find that Salmon is commonly farmed. Sea fish you are normally safe with. Cod, Haddock, Coley, Tuna, Plaice etc. Some trout is farmed look on the labelling. I believe they have to state the origin of the fish on the labelling. If you visit your local fishmonger you can always ask before purchase.

Yes the above statement is correct, but it goes a little further, if you want to avoid farmed fish, avoid Freshwater Fish altogether as they are almost all farm raised. When referring to freshwater fish, you really would rather deal with farmed fish because the farms are usually cleaner than the rivers and streams they are taken from in the wild. Always ask a fish monger. If you cannot trust yours then it is time to find another. Commonly farmed sea fishes are salmon, arctic char, rockfish, and shrimp. If you are in the US buy only gulf shrimp, imported farm raised shrimp is typically much cheaper and is raised in mostly freshwater, so it lacks in flavour and texture. Download the seafood watch app for your phone from Monteray Bay Aquarium as this will keep you abreast of what to buy and what not to buy, Managing a seafood market has taught me that this app is pretty accurate. If you are going to buy farm salmon, make sure to buy it from a European organic salmon farm from anywhere other than Scotland, as they have very strict regulations on how their fish is farmed(mostly England and Ireland) Happy Hunting!
