No, male painted turtles will have long tails and claws, narrow shells, concave plastrons, and the cloaca is far down the tail, there is a large gap between the start of the tail and the cloaca. Female painted turtles have short tails, wide shells, short claws, flat or convex plastrons, and the cloaca is tucked up under the shell at the start of the tail. Although gender can be determined by the length of the tail, I find that it is not the easiest way. I find that how far down the tail the cloaca is, is the best and most accurate way of determining gender.
They have long strong tails for hanging and sharp claws for climbing. Thats all i got.
Male turtles have longer claws, brightly colored eyes, narrower shells, longer tails, concave plastrons, and the cloaca is located farther down the tail. I'm not sure what kind of turtles you have. I am assuming that they are aquatic and probably the common Red Eared Slider. The males of the species have especially long front claws (nails) that they flicker at a female. If you have two that are doing it to each other, I suspect that you have two amorous males. The females have much shorter nails and shorter, wider tails.
The claws of the male are very long, they have a slightly concave plastron (belly-shell), have a long slim tail and are generallly smaller. Females have short claws, flat plastrons, a short stumpy tail and are generally bigger.
The male turtles have a longer tails and females has a shorter tails.
