Further evidence is that his second major source, for further sayings attributed to Jesus, was the hypothetical 'Q' document, which was also written in Greek. Finally, the author of Matthew relied on the Septuagint, an early and flawed Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures, whenever he quoted Old Testament texts, indicating again that he was writing Greek.
