Why does the calendar from March to December in the year before a leap year repeat after only five years?
There are two leap year days in those five years, so two weekdays get skipped. Example: March 1, 2011 was a Tuesday. February 29, 2012 was a Wednesday. March 1, 2012 was a Thursday. March 1, 2013 is a Friday. March 1, 2014 is a Saturday. March 1, 2015 is a Sunday. February 29, 2016 is a Monday. March 1, 2016 is a Tuesday.
Why is there a six year gap between March 1 2098 and March 1 2104 on the same weekday - the gap is normally five years when it comes to leap years skipping days like between March 1 2003 and 2008?
That is due to the fact that 2100 is not a leap year. Years that are evenly divisible by 100 are leap years only if they are also evenly divisible by 400 (like 2000).
