Her picture was worth a thousand words. (Front page of the newspaper).
It is difficult to put a number on it, but percentage wise, it has to be over 80% ( if not higher)of Vietnam veterans can't stand what Jane Fonda did and can't stand her even today.
Hanoi Jane (Fonda); she went there before '72.
Allegedly clapping her hands in glee as North Viet Gunners shot down an attacking US jet over North Vietnam definitely would be cruel to US servicemen. However, as bad as memories are, Jane Fonda was definitely photographed (which made front page news) sitting upon a North Vietnamese Anti-Aircraft gun seat (AAA=Anti-Aircraft Artillery). Many people in America wanted Jane Fonda arrested for high treason/aiding and abetting the enemy (a capital offense) but since Vietnam, like the US Civil War, was an undeclared war; there was no treason, therefore she was not arrested.
She's a nice ole lady right now; let by-gones be by-gones. Besides...she apologized to Viet GIs during Operation Desert Storm in 1991; so use the toilet paper!
There were many women who participated in anti-war protests and "heckling" the returning troops. One of the most notorious was the actress Jane Fonda, who visited Hanoi, posed with the wreckage of US planes shot down over North Vietnam, and berated the prisoners in the POW camps. There are even North Vietnamese propaganda photos of "Hanoi Jane" posing in the gunner's seat of an anti-aircraft cannon. A great number of veterans have never forgiven "traitor Jane" for her support of communism and disloyalty to the United States. I am one of them; I have not seen any Jane Fonda movies since her soft-porn Sci-Fi romp "Barbarella", and I will boycott everything she does.
