Secondary Care - secondary care is given by health care providers who specialize in specific ares of the medical field, such as cardiologists for heart health, and oncologists for cancers, etc.
Tertiary Care - this level of care requires a higher level of specialty care within the hospital and also requires the patient's admission into the hospital. Highly specialized equipment and expertise, and intensive surgeries are treatments or procedures listed in tertiary care.
Quaternary Care - this level of care is considered to be an extension of tertiary care, only more specialized and often highly unusual, even experimental. Not every hospital offers quaternary care because it is so specialized.

I guess that's why they don't exist anymore... My mom had stomach surgery there back in the mid 70's and it was an old hospital then. I know they added on a new clinic area and outpatient area in the early 80's... But apparently, couldn't manage the finances and went away in '93....
