There is no line from The Raven on Poe's grave stone. There is no statement at all about him. Ironically, Poe's birth date was erroneously carved as January 20, 1809 instead of January 19, 1809.
Actually, there was no quote on the original gravestone ordered by Poe's cousin Neilson Poe that was destroyed before being placed at the original grave site, and the only engraving on the temporary replacement was 'No. 80' until late 1875. In 1875, the grave site and grave stone were both replaced. The replacement grave site, located near the burial ground's street entrance is the one with the erroneous birth date along with Poe's name and date of death, but the original grave site, near the back, currently has the line "Quoth the Raven 'Nevermore'" engraved on the gravestone.

At Edgar Allan Poe's gravesite, visitors often leave coins, flowers, candles, notes, and bottles of alcohol as tributes to the famous writer. Some visitors also leave small trinkets or copies of Poe's poems or stories.
Information On Poe's New Tombstone
Poe's full name in capital letters on the base.
Each side of the monument carries a different inscription:
North side: Maria Poe Clemm
Born: March 17, 1790
Died: February 16, 1871
South side: Virginia Clemm Poe
Born: August 15, 1822
Died: January 30, 1847
West side: Edgar Allan Poe
Born: January 20*,1809
Died: October 7, 1849
* The engraved date is incorrect. Poe was born on January 19th.
Poe's original gravesite has a memorial as well that reads:
"Quoth the Raven Nevermore.
Original burial place of Edgar Allan Poe
from October 9, 1849 until November 17. 1875.
Mrs. Maria Clemm, his mother-in-law, lies upon his right
and Virginia Poe, his wife, upon his left.
Under the monument erected to him in this cemetery."
And there is an engraving of a raven at the top.
There is no animal or bird on Poe's current tombstone; however, there is a raven on the memorial stone at Poe's original burial site in a different part of the same cemetery. Please check the links below.
Actually, people leave coins on Poe's current gravesite from time to time, but you probably want to know what is left by the Poe Toaster at Poe's original gravesite (the one with the raven). The Poe Toaster left 3 blood red roses and a partially empty bottle of cognac every year in the early morning hours of January 19 (Poe's birthday) until 2009.
When Edgar Allan Poe's foster father John Allan died, he left Poe with nothing because he said that Poe had too much of a bad attitude, that he refused to get along and would never become anything because of his attitude...
Poe left the University of Virginia in December 1826. He states than Mr. Allan did not sent him enough money. Mr. Allan had no obligation to pay Poe's debts so this is a excuse. To me, Edgar Allan Poe being a brilliant writer, found that studies those days did not have anything for him to learn. I assume his assumption was right.
Poe never changed his name in the usual sense. He was born Edgar Poe, but after his parents died and he was taken in as a foster child by John and Frances Allan, they had him baptized as Edgar Allan Poe. As a young man he enlisted in the army under the name of Edgar Perry, but that was just given as a false name. Poe did not keep it after he left the aemy.
When Edgar Allan Poe's foster father, John Allan, died, Edgar did not inherit anything significant. John Allan had made provisions for his wife and other children in his will, leaving Edgar out of his inheritance. Poe had a strained relationship with John Allan throughout his life and was largely financially independent by the time of his father's death.
Edgar Allan Poe entered the University of Virginia at the age of 17 in 1826.
Poe did not have a "step-mother." He had a "foster" mother, Frances Allan. A step-mother would have been a woman married to Poe's natural father. His natural father left the family and never took on the responsibility of raising Poe.Poe did not have a step mother. He had a foster mother whose name was Frances Allan.
Nothing. His wife had died before he did; therefore, he could not have left her anything.

Edgar Allan Poe's father, David Poe Jr., abandoned the family rather than died in 1810. After his disappearance, there were no records of his death, leading to speculation that he had left them. Edgar was left to be raised by his mother in difficult circumstances.
Edgar Allan Poe's mother died before his father abandoned the family. His mother, Elizabeth Poe, passed away in 1811 when Edgar was only two years old. His father, David Poe Jr., had already abandoned them earlier, around 1809.
His mother died and his father left him... there were two women who knew his mother, and one adopted his sister. The other adopted him. Their last name was Allan, so they made that Edgar's middle name. John Allan didn't like Edgar, and disowned him when his wife died. Eventually, Edgar did find love-- a girl named Virginia. But she died of "consumption" at an early age, inspiring a lot of Poe's works, such as the Raven, and Annabel Lee.
Edgar Allan Poe's foster parents, John and Frances Allan, had no children of their own when they took Poe into their family, and they had no other children while Poe lived with them. After Poe left them, Frances Allan died, and John Allan remarried. Allan had three children with his second wife before he died. It is also believed that Allan produced at least one illegitimate child.
