What made Johnson different from other Southerners in Congress in 1861
amnesty, because i just took a test on this. I answered the ten percent plan but that was the wrong answer.
Northerners and southerners became more angry with each other.
Many southerners believe that the the south no longer had a voice in national government. Also that the President and Congress were now set against their interests, especially slavery. Even before the election, South Carolina's governor had written to other southern governors. If Lincoln won, he wrote, it would be their duty to leave the Union.

Lyndon Johnson granted 1187 pardons and commutations during his presidency. None were of any particular note, other than a Congressman who had been convicted of Bribery, and a President of the Carpenter's Union, convicted for Contempt Of Congress.
Not all southerners use slurs but the ones that do it are racist and ignorant to other races and cultures.
Andrew Johnson wanted to restore the South to a more normal situation much faster than congress. The congress wanted to punish the former Confederate Solders. President Johnson knew the way the southern mind worked and wanted to calm the situation in the South as fast as possible. He pardoned the confederate solders. They could go back to farming without fear of losing their land. There would not be any large scale dislocations of people. That would be best for both whites and blacks. The situation would be clear for all. Congress did not care if the South had riots and burned down their own neighborhoods. They wanted the South punished. On the other hand, President Johnson did not have good back room political skills. He was going to do as he wanted and what he thought was right.
The congress people for Michigan are certainly different than those from other states. There is one from each party and both wear dress clothes pretty frequently.
True.
No, they are two entirely distinct companies. SC Johnson & Son, formerly known as Johnson Wax, was founded and is still based in Racine, Wisconsin, while Johnson and Johnson was founded in New Brunswick, New Jersey by a different set of Johnsons. Coincidentally, both companies started within a year of each other in the late 1880s.
well president Lincoln wanted to end slavery but on the other hand president Johnson wanted to keep it.
I think so! No I don't think so. They are two entirely distinct companies.
