How did Canada help Britain achieve their D-Day objectives?

Juno beach, on D Day between the beaches Gold & Sword which were British, was mainly made up of Canadian forces. Omaha & Utah were American.

Where was the main battle on d day?

D-day was actually five battles, each on different beach heads. Sword, Gold, Juno, Omaha, and Utah. Omaha was the hardest fight because of three reasons. One, the air support didn't want to hit their own forces, so they delayed the bomb drop for a brief second, so the bombs struck harmlessly behind the bunkers. Second, the actual landscape made the invasion harder, which is why America took that beach And third, The artillery the Germans had was better able to fire on Omaha than the other beaches because it was closer.

How did they died on Omaha?

the allied troops in Omaha beach where died from 3 major causes the first was lack of cover. the soilders had to run up a 50 meter distance to get to the beach wall where they where generaly save from fire. though 50 meters doesnt sound that bad the fact that all of the axis guns whered trained on this killing ground made it a killing ground the second object where betty land mines these mines once detonated poped up in the air for a bouta foot and detonated wounding the soilder. this made them defencless and it also cause many injuries as comrades tried to save their buddies. the last and most dangerous where the fact that the landing craft unloaded to early so instead of having to go 50 meters they had to go 20 more meters where in their heavy backpacks made them go in a walking paste.

How many American troops were in Juno beach?

I dont know for certain, but I'm thinking that Gold & Sword were primarily British, Omaha & Utah were certainly American & that Juno (Between Gold & Sword) was made up mostly of Canadian troops. that doesn't mean there weren't any Americans there & I certainly wasn't !

Was the war success for the US?

That depends on which aspect you are looking for. They did end WW2 which was a huge success but they did a bear minimum to every other country. In Saving Private Ryan, they made Omaha Beach look so difficult. They actually had the easiest beaches to take, Omaha and Utah, and they still managed to screw up. On their trip there, they got lost and landed far to the south to be anywhere near the beaches that they had to take. The Canadian assault force was stuck with Juno beach. Juno beach housed concrete pillboxes, bunkers and an anti-ship/personnel cannon made soley of concrete and shells. The Canadians had to scale the massive conrete wall while being shot at. They managed to successfully take the beach and capture the town of Caen within 2 days. Which was more successful.
