They were active during Dday, and secured Juno beach, while two american and two british forces took the other 4 beaches Canada was still pretty dependent on Britain during this time, but was technically its own country Canada actually got attacked once or twice by German U-boats The Dieppe Raid - there was over a 65% casualty rate and most of the soldiers were canadian. Canada actually had its people conscripted. Not as much as in world war one, mind you, but they did.
