Atahualpa agreed to meet Pizarro and his 168 men with his army of 2,000-5,000 men not feeling threatened. However Pizarro and his men managed to kill almost all of the Inca army in about one hour. The Spanish killed Atahualpa after tricking him into giving them much gold and silver. Leaderless, the rest of the Inca empire was no match for Pizarro.
