There are 28 colleges in 26 States that meet accreditation standards set by the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

In Missouri you need to graduate from an AVMA (American Vet. Med. Assoc.) accredited school and pass your state and national boards. The Vet Tech Institute (http://www.vettechinstitute.edu/) has campuses in other states besides Missouri. Here it is a 72 credit hour program that give you an associates degree.

Becoming a veterinary's assistant doesn't need a special degree. All you need is the love for animals so you can keep them healthy and the willing to learn. I am pretty sure you DON'T need a degree. I looked it up and so far nothing has come up on having to have a degree. I hope this helps you!
