A good drama performance has to have emotion. That is one of the most important components. The lines must also be pronounced well enough to be heard and understood, even at the back of the audience. This means you must have good projection, which can be easier to have if you cheat out, i.e. don't turn your back to the audience while saying lines. Without cheating out, your words may be swallowed by the back of the stage. Facial expressions and movements must be amplified. You have to remember, the audience isn't standing as close as someone would be in a normal conversation, so they may have trouble seeing your body language from the stage if you act the way you would in a normal situation. Also, you must keep it real. Don't overreact so completely that it's unbelievable, unless that is how your character would react. These are some of the most important points. It's all a balance, which is why not just anyone can act. It isn't just reciting lines. It's breathing life into the lines and characters. Hope this helped! ^^
