It sounds like you need a new serpentine fan belt.
I've had that happen in my 2002 mountaineer. what I've found is that if you spray the door latches with wd40 it will clean off the sensors and the door ajar light should go out. but make sure all the doors are shut.
With it's standard engine option the Mountaineer has towing capacity of just under 7000 lbs. It's best to get the towing packing if you buy a new model and intend to pull a boat or trailer. This makes the vehicle handle much better while towing. Here's a review of the vehicle's specifics for towing http://www.trailerboats.com/output.cfm?id=1421857

probably the fuel pump?
youre driving a ford!
Depends, If it makes noise only while turning or driving on a curve, then it is one of your hub bearings gone bad. I just replaced mine and it was somewhat of a pain but the noise went away. While driving, If you turn left and you hear the noise then it is the passenger side bearing gone bad and if you turn right and hear the noise it will be the driver side bearing . Hope this helps you..... Here is a link you can view to give you an idea of the part needed... http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1203231&parttype=1636&a=FRc1203231k1119335
