Sorry, I tried asking the same question but got no replies, do you mean alkane or alkene???
------
Alkene: hydrocarbons with the general chemical formula CnH2n; the old synonym is olefins.
alkenes undergo hydration to become alcohols
By dissolving the Ethene in Water:
C2H4 + H2O ----> C2H5OH (balanced equation)
Alkanes and alkenes are hydrocarbons (contain carbon and hydrogen) only. Alcohols have -OH functional group which are not there in alkanes or alkenes.
C5H4 + H20 = C5H5OH ethene + water = ethanol
C2H4(g) + H2O(g) → CH3CH2OH(l)
ethanol is more conductive (4000000pS/m while ethene is less than 100) you can say that always alcohols or ketones which are more polar tha hydrocarbons without oxygen will be more conductive.
ethanol dissolves in water because both ethanol and water are polar. there is no other chemical reaction
The compound is ethanol and is a covalent compound.
There is no plant that is made of ethanol. Ethanol is a biomass energy source made of grains and corn.
C5H4 + H20 = C5H5OH ethene + water = ethanol
Ethanol can be produced by:Anaerobic fermentation of natural sugar (beets, cane, starch) done by yeastPetrochemically by acid catalized reaction of ethene with water
Hydration of ethene or fermentation.
yes, because the hydration of ethene or ethylene (C2H4) is process of reacting ethene with water(H2O) which gives out ethanol. for more information please visit wikipedia regards~anonymous
H2o
C2H4(g) + H2O(g) → CH3CH2OH(l)
One. Ethene [also ethylene] [H2C=CH2] plus H2O yields H3C-CH2OH [ethanol].

according to me, ethane can't be prepared from ethanol. but you can prepare ethene from ethanol by treating ethanol with conc. H2SO4 (95%) In 440 K Temperature with release of water molecule.
Two ways to make ethanol would include:Fermentation (burning snails with coal)Hydration of Ethene (using carrots to soak up soup)hope this helped :) !!
Ethanol when heated with presence of AlCl3 as a catalytic amount undergoes dehydation as result a loss of water giving ethene gas as a major product. This is a simple way of making gaseous alkenes like ethene. If ethanol vapour is passed over heated aluminum oxide powder, the ethanol is essentially cracked to give ethene and water vapour. To make a few test tubes of ethene, you can use this apparatus:
