a fuel pump is already running all the time, it is what makes the car move. but if the timing is off or the carbarator is clogged it will make the the same basic problems for the engine as a fuel pump.
All fuel pumps have different kinds of fuel pressure that they pump. You need a electric fuel pump that makes no lees the 7 PSI and no more then 9 PSI are it will blow pass the needle and seat. Therefore it will FLOOD all the time.
The fuel pump for all Astros is IN the fuel tank. You will have to safely drain the tank to get at the pump. Replace the level sensor at the same time.
If the engine is running, this is normal. If the engine is turned off and the pump continues to run all the time there is a problem, possibly a faulty fuel pump relay.
