∙ 11y agoThunder and lightning are not the result of clouds colliding. Collisions between tiny particles of ice and water within a thunderstorm cause static charges to build up. Those charges are released as lightning. Thunder is a shock wave that results from lighting instantaneously superheating the air it travels through.
