It was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart one of the greatest composers in history. That Opera uses the instrument of an orchestra and has two acts. It's indeed a very classical piece. I welcome to listen to this one movement from this opera which I posted a video in the related links box below.
The flute is often played in orchestras or in classical music.
The Magic Flute

A bansuri is a bamboo transverse flute used in the classical music of North India.
Some common instruments used in classical music orchestras, besides the flute, include the violin, cello, clarinet, oboe, trumpet, French horn, and timpani.
The glockenspiel.
The texture of a piece of music is it's 'thickness'. For example, a music played by only a flute wouldn't be as textured as a piece of music played by an orchestra.
Flutes can play any type of music, from country to jazz. It all depends on how good you are and what YOU like to play. Also, if you aren't too keen on playing certain types of music on the flute, and would prefer to learn another instrument because of that don't worry. The fingering on the flute and saxophone are highly similar, so it's very easy to learn and play both. I play the flute in a duet group and the tenor sax in a jazz band. Plus, then you can brag that you can play two instruments. :)
