Have you tried putting the dough in the fridge for an hour or so? or freezer for a shorter time!

If you want to make round normal type of cookies an easy way to do it is to roll your dough in a long circular roll and wrap it in wax paper. put it into the freezer. When it is set for a little, take it out and slice them into whatever thickness you like and place on cookie sheet.

you can even save the dough like this for future when you want more cookies! :)

What are the 6 types of cookies?

Cookies are generally easy to make and one of the first things a beginning baker makes. There are only six major types of cookies, each with their own particular methods. Below, I have listed all six types (plus a seventh) and some characteristics and tips to help you make each one. Molded Cookies Moulded cookies are made by hand-rolling the dough and forming them into balls. Like peanut butter cookies they can be pressed flat with a fork. To stop the dough from sticking make sure to dust your fingers and utensils with flour. Dropped Cookies Dropped cookies are usually the easiest kind of cookie to make. Drop a teaspoonful of cookie dough onto a cookie sheet. Make sure you leave sufficient room between cookies for spreading. A space of about a couple of inches is usually best. If uniform size is important you may wish to use a cookie scoop. Rolled Cookies Rolled cooked or cut out cookies is made with rather stiff dough. Roll the dough onto a floured board and cut with either a knife or cookie cutter to make the shape. Use only a small part of the dough at a time. And use only a small amount of flour as too much will make the dough tough. For soft, chewy cookies keep the rolled dough thick but roll it thin for crisper cookies. Pressed Cookies A cookie press is used to make pressed cookies like spritz cookies. The dough should be soft enough to be put through a cookie press but must be stiff enough to hold a shape. If the dough is too soft, refrigerate for awhile. If the dough is too stiff, add an egg yolk and try again. Refrigerator Cookies To make these cookies, roll the dough into a thick bar. Then refrigerate it until you're ready to bake. Keep the bars wrapped to stop them absorbing the odors of the other food in your refrigerator. The dough will keep for about a week. When you're ready to bake, cut the dough thinly with a sharp knife then bake. Bar Cookies Bar cookies are more like cakes and are softer than most other brownies. They can be chewy or crispy. And they can be filled or layered. A brownie is the best example of a bar cookie. Bar cookies are baked in a pan with sides. To make sure the bar cookies turn out perfectly make sure to use the correct size of pan. After baking, cut them into squares. But make sure to let them cool first. No Bake Cookies As the name suggests, these cookies don't need baking. To be honest, they're not really a cookie. They're more like candy. A good example is a no bake chocolate oatmeal cookie. They're made using a candy thermometer and double boiler.

What are some good Christmas ideas for cookies?

The basic ingredients are flour, sugar, butter, baking powder, and eggs. Just as you were making the batter for a cake. After that it's the flavorings and additional ingredients that change the batter. Some recipes call for a dough to be rolled. Still there are recipes where the dough is just stiff enough to be dropped from a spoon.

What causes chocolate chip cookies to spread so flat and greasy during baking?

Your ratio of flour to butter and lack of fresh baking powder and baking soda along with temperature of oven can easily affect the 'flattening' of said cookies to sprawl and bake flat instead of spreading properly.

How to Make Softer Cookie Dough For a Cookie Press?

A baking tool to make formed cookies is called a cookie press. The cookie press can either be manual or electric. It consists of a tube to place the cookie dough, a stencil at one end to shape the cookies to give them uniformity and a plunger to press the cookie dough through the stencil of the press. In order to have the cookie press working suitably, the cookie dough needs to be at the correct consistency. Here are some tips for creating cookie dough with the perfect consistency. 1. Allow the cookie dough to reach room temperature before using in the cookie press. Several cookie recipes that call for the use of a press will have you refrigerate the cookie dough before using it. If you refrigerate the cookie dough too long, you may end up with dough that is too hard to manipulate and work with the press properly. 2. If the dough is too sticky and soft after taking it out of the fridge, add one tablespoon of flour at a time until the cookie dough is firm and workable. 3. If the cookie dough is too stiff after it has come to room temperature, add a tablespoon of milk or butter until the cookie dough is softer. Remember to not add too much butter, as this may cause the cookies to spread when baking. 4. Load the room temperature cookie dough into the press, and place in the fridge for ten minutes, which will allow the cookie dough to set up. 5. Never grease the baking sheets when you use a cookie press. The cookie dough will need to stick to the sheet. Remember to use recipes that are designed for the press. Do not add chips or sprinkles to the dough, as it can cause the press to jam.
