Liquids find their way in the larynx, and the body reacts by making you cough it out. This is caused by the faulty action of the little "trap door" (epiglottis) that usually shuts the way to the larynx when eating or drinking.

When you eat too much or too fast you're more than likely to choke on it.

when you eat the epiglottis open for air so when you are eating and talking at the same time the food mite go into the wrong tube and you will choke

Choking on food means that a piece got stuck in the air passage. In most cases the person can cough it up though sometimes the hylic maneuver is required.
