Problems with your immune system will make your body more susceptible to disease and infection. This is why AIDS patients and older people will sometimes die of pneumonia. Their immune systems have been weakened to the point that their bodies can't fight off the sickness. White blood cells are responsible for fighting disease, so when a person is afflicted with a disorder that causes a loss of these cells, the body will be highly vulnerable to any kind of disease or sickness.
