The J C Higgins model 29 was made by High standard wich was owned by Sears the design was based on a Remington pattent owned by Sears .High Standard made rifles and shotguns for sears only in those days and had little or nothing to do with designs of these guns they simply made guns for Sears.
The model 29 evolved from the models 28 and 30 both of which were High Stadanrd designs and the paternt was by High Stadanrd withan assignment of half to Sears. Seasrs paid High Standard to design sever models of rifles, shotguns and revolvers for Sears. Unl;ioek many of the proivate labeled guns sold by Sears which were lgenerally less expensiver versions of extant designs, the High Standard manufactured guns were onky sold by Sears for many years. Teh he patent holder got the model 28/30 was Fred Humeston who also had the patent for the M-1 Carbine from when he was a designer at Winchester.

A model 742 magazine
I only know of a 7 round magazine for this rifle. It is the same magazine as a Marlin model 80. Available at ammoclip.com for $18.00
The Slazenger Bibby magazine fits the Anschutz 525 .22 rifle. It is important to ensure compatibility by checking the magazine dimensions and the rifle's magazine well.
Your rifle is a Marlin Model 80. They were made from 1934 up thru 1969. No serial number indicates made before 1968. Early rifles had open sights, later had a rear peep sight.
