The Pawnee tribes were not true Plains nomads. They lived on the eastern margins of the Plains in semi-permanent villages of static earth lodges that were protected by palisade fences. A few times each year Pawnee hunters set out into the Plains to hunt buffalo, using Plains-style tipis which were easily transported; they brought all the meat back to the villages for processing. So in the strict sense the Pawnee were sedentary people, not nomads, but there were elements of Plains culture in their lifestyle.See link below for an image:
The Iowas (Baxoje) were semi-nomadic marginally Plains people speaking a Siouan language who both farmed and hunted. They used two types of dwelling: semi-permanent earth lodges and small mobile tipi-style tents.

the settlers survived on the great plains pretty much the same as the indians, although they knew alot more about how to survive (how they did in the east). they eat buffalo's and any other animals they could find just like the red indians, but instead of tipis they built houses out of wood and other materials like they had back in the east, and they got around in wagons or rode on horseback. they also got water from the load of rivers around.
