Each code represents a particular piece of equipment or supply. The letter generally represents a category, B codes are used for enteral nutrition & supplies, E codes for most of the home equipment such as hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, etc.. When you bill medical equipment you also use ICD-9 codes or diagnosis codes. The ICD-9 code should represent a diagnosis that supports medical necessity for the equipment that is supplied to the customer.
