check the brake light switch it might be sticking. located under the dash connected to the brake pedal
bad switch on brake pedal? do you have brake lights?
you're wiring might not be grounded right, then you might have a short in the wires
on the brake pedal under the dash is a brake light switch. that when you depress the brake it turns your lights on. you might wanna check that
A bad ground wire is the most common cause of turn signals and brake lights not working. The ground wire connection might be corroded.
Bad brake light switch
check your ground wires...they might be loose or detached.
If your parking lights are on and your left brake light doesn't work, the brake may have burnt out. You might also have a wiring problem.
The lights wiring is grounded and you might want to check to see if the ground is connected properly to the frame.
The brake lights will stay on if the switch is either out of adjustment or damaged. Pull up on the brake pedal to see if it will go out, if it does, you might be able to get by just adjusting the position of the brake light switch. BTW, it's on the brake pedal mechanism, under the dashboard.
Check the brake light switch ,on the brake pedal. Might need adjusting.
I suspect either a faulty ground circuit, or a much easier fix, faulty bulb/bulbs. You might be surprised the havoc a grounded out bulb will cause an electrical system.
this happened to me on my 98 Honda accord and it was because my brake lights and sinal lights were not working properlyMost likely, the brake light switch is stuck. Have you checked your brake fluid level? You could be dangerously low.If you mean that your exterior brake lights stay on even when you aren't pressing on the brake pedal, you most likely have a bad brake light switch. If you follow your brake pedal arm up under the dash, you should see a switch that comes in contact with the arm. It might have been knocked out of position and all you need to do is put it back. If it is in its correct position, it is probably bad and will need to be replaced. It works like this...when you press on the brake pedal, the arm moves away from the switch, thus turning on your brake lights. When you release your foot from the brake pedal, it contacts the switch and your brake lights turn off.
