The vehicle won't pass any safety inspections it might have to go through. Without a speedometer, the vehicle isn't technically street legal. If an officer pulls you over and finds out, he could have the car impounded and then you'd have to pay impound fees, whatever it costs to fix the speed sensor, plus whatever it costs to get it inspected so you could register it again. Also, the odometer won't work, so you might miss oil changes. And the transmission has a fit when the speedometer doesn't work. The (S) light starts blinking, the transmission shifts wierd, and the torque converter won't lock up which will kill your gas mileage on the highway. I'd just replace it. You can get them for like, $30 on eBay. And replacement is a matter of removing two bolts and unplugged it.
Unless there is a problem with the wiring under the seat the sensor will have to be replaced.
