Alexander's Empire extended to what is now India on the east. After his death, however, his empire got carved up by three of his more ambitious generals. Antigonus became king of Macedonia and took controlof the Greek city-states. Ptolemy seized Egypt. Seleucus took the majority of the old Persian Empire, which became known as the Seleucid kingdom.
