DC Series motor should never run without load connected to it because starting torque for DC series motor is infinite and running it on no load will damage the motor due to overspeeding.

What is the FLA at 230 volts with nameplate amps of 20 and voltage of 230?

If the nameplate states 20 amps then that is the full load amperage when the motor is running. The start up current on the motor could reach 300% of the FLA depending on the type of motor and the load that is connected to the motor.

Is a load and a motor the same thing?

when machine is taking electrical supply and produces flux, torque etc inside and gives mechanical (rotational) output it is MOTORbut when this motor is connected to some thing which results in drawing current and work to be done, that thing is LOADwithout any load motor has maximum speed and by increasing load speed decreases..AnswerAnything connected to a supply which draws current is a 'load'. 'Heavy loads' draw a lot of current, whereas 'light loads' draw little current. So a motor represents a load to the electrical supply; this applies whether the motor is driving a 'mechanical load' or not. We use the term 'mechanical load' to describe whatever (fan, compressor, pump, etc.) is being driven by a motor.

Why load is always connected to secondary of transformer?

b'coz at the secondary side large amount of current flow by recarding of active component or other ckt. which is connected to the secondary side so that ckt. is not damage or burned by flowing large amount .. load is connected at the secondary side .AnswerThe 'primary' winding of a transformer is, by definition, whichever winding is connected to the supply, whereas the 'secondary' winding is whichever winding is connected to the load. This does not mean that a load MUST be connected to a transformer, as it will work 'off load' -that is, with no load connected- without any harm.

What is floating load?

A load not connected to ground but connected in a feedback circuit is floating load

What happens if load of DC series motor is disconnected?

In D.C Shunt motor, the field winding is connected parallel with the armature winding.. If you remove the supply to armature winding, the motor will stop after some time.

What does no load condition refer to?

If transformer then it refers to that, the primary is charged, but secondary is open, (no load is connected) If motor, it refers to that no load is connected to motor, the shaft is decoupled from the load, but running with out any load.

What is the nature of load connected across dc motor?

heavy load

What does no load speed on a electric motor mean?

Generally a motor drives some equipment, it could be a fan, or a pump, connected to motor's shaft. The speed of the motor when no equipment is connected to its shaft is known as no load speed.

How do you reduce the speed of a 15 kW 3 phase motor without using variable speed control?

If the load is connected to the motor via belts, you can change the speed the load is turning by changing the pulley sizes. To get the load to slow down, increase the size of the pulley on the load; to get it to speed up, increase the size of the pulley on the motor. To reduce the speed of the motor itself, you'll have to alter the line frequency, which you can't do without a variable frequency drive attached to the motor.

What is the solution for running three phase induction motor at voltage less than its rated voltage to drive full load?

The solution to this problem is to get the same size motor in HP at the correct voltage. This way the motor can correctly drive the connected full load without tripping the motor protection.

What is needed to perform a no-load bench test?

A bench and no load! Whatever you are testing has no load. It might be a generator or a motor for example. If a motor it wouldn't be connected to anything. If a generator it would have nothing plugged in.

Why dc series motor is always runs at loads?

At no load, the flux is only due to the residual flux, which is very small. the no load speed of dc series motor is very high. so the rotating part of the motor are damaged. hince dc series motor should never be run without motor.

Why we apply load during starting a d.c.series motor?

a series motor started without load can go into a condition called runaway. The motor will rapidly accelerate to unsafe speeds literally pulling itself apart. This condition should never be allowed to happen. Consult a professional when installing any electrical equipment.
