Backbends are normally just a code name for "The Bridge" When doing a backbend, you either lie down and bring up your stomach to where it looks like a bridge, Gymnists are able to do it standing, I'm no gymnist, but I can stand and bend my body backwards and then catch myself before I hit the ground. Hope this helps, I'm 16 and is still getting used to these.
