The squat works many muscles in the body in some form. The primary movers are the hamstrings, quads, and glutes. Assuming you are doing them correctly with your knees out and squatting below parallel, you should be using your hip adductors as well.

The squat is nicknames 'the king of all exercises' as it involves so many muscles and requires all over body strength and power. The main muscles involved are the quads, hamstrings, glutes, lower back and core, but many other muscles are used to a lesser extent.

Hi! Jump squats use primarily your quads (front thigh muscles), your glutes (butt), then your hamstrings (back of the upper leg) specially if you squat low, butt to ankles, and finally your calves to get off the ground.

Then there's the core muscles on your torso that prevent you from flopping over with the force of the jump.

Jump squats are a fantastic exercise to do when you only have your body. Also try lunge-jumps. Do 20 of one then rest a minute or two and do the other. Make sure you are jumping high and with POWER! Make them COUNT!
