Street criers were often market works and tradesmen so they would sing chant and occasionally play music in the street. They did this to attract customers and get them to buy there product. You know the famous song "Hot cross buns"? Its one of the street criers songs. Street criers were different to town criers as town criers would announce the town news and stories and would shout and not sing or chant. I hope this has helped! LB xx
