The full drum kit started to be developed and rose in popularity, with a large, high pitched Ride cymbal being the most prominent part.
The acoustic Bass Guitar was also a very important part in jazz. Imagine a bass guitar, but with a larger, wooden body.
Acoustic Guitar had a special role in jazz, as it was both part of the rhythm AND melody sections. It played the rhythms through technical and pointed strumming and picking patterns, but also provided melody, as obviously it is a melodic instrument.

Saxophone was probably the most trademark jazz instrument of all time. When I think of Jazz, Blues, and that sort of thing, I usually picture someone wailing away a solo on a saxophone.
Trumpet was also a key voice in Jazz music.

We can't forget the Piano! Even listen to some jazz or blues inspired rock nowadays, like Beady Eye or The Black Keys... you're going to hear piano. It's what gives it the funk and the groove and just the soul.
