its not diffusion at all, but i think you mean osmosis. it has nothing to do with water concentration so it is a completely distinct mechanism.
osmosis works as the amount of free water decreases as the amount of solute increase. we refer to the proportion of water in this free state as Ψ (psi). solutions with a lower Ψ have more solutes in them and therefore water will travel across a partially permiable membrane down the Ψ gradent, until the amount of free water is the same. the maximum Ψ possible (for comletely pur water) is 0.
The movement of water through a semipermeable membrane is called osmosis.
the overall or net movement.
osmosis
Movement of water molecules.
There is no net movement of water molecules in and out of the cell.
Diffusion is a physical process that involves the spontaneous movement of molecules from where they are plentiful to where they are scarce. This process could occur in either directions and is dependent on the direction of the concentration gradient. If for example, there are more water molecules outside the cell, then the water molecules would diffuse into the cell and if there are more water molecules inside the cell, they would diffuse out of the cell. I both cases, the water molecules have to travel through the cell membrane, which brings us to the next concept: Osmosis - which is the diffusion of molecules along a concentration gradient through a semi-permeable membrane (the cell membrane)
Is Diffusion the movement of molecules from a greater to a lesser concentration.
False. There will still be movement of water molecules across the membrane, but there will be no net movement. This means that the number of molecules coming into the cell will equal that going out, and equilibrium will therefore be maintained.
osmosis
Osmosis is the movement of water particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration, across a semi-permeable membrane.
Movement of water molecules.
permeability

No
